Gun Thor was born and educated in Västerås in Sweden. She finished her foundation studies at Konstfack in Stockholm and then moved to England. She resumed her training in London at Sir John Cass School of Art, completing her Extended Studies Course in Jewellery and Enamelling in 1980.
Since then Gun Thor has maintained a workshop in London and more recently also in Sweden.
She produces work of striking originality, both one-of-a-kind pieces and studio multiples.
She has exhibited widely in the UK, throughout Europe and in leading galleries in the USA
